About

Core Development is a process of change and personal growth developed from Donald’s 30 years’ experience in somatic psychotherapy, counselling and structural dynamics.

No longer driven by unfinished business from the past, and by the need to comply with other people’s expectations of how you should be, you can live in the present and in accordance with your true values.

You can have the quality of life that you desire, and create the results that are important to you.

I have gone from focussing entirely on my problems and from letting them define me, to becoming clear about who I am, what’s important to me and living that with integrity and authenticity more and more” Kathryn McCabe, Sydney

Core Development also works to bring human values back into organisations, and to prioritise human values in education.

Core Development is a learning process not a clinical method. It is not intended to replace clinical treatment where this is required.

You are encouraged to come to your own understanding and conclusions.  We call this becoming the authority  in your own life.

The methods used are experiential not just cognitive, so you arrive at an understanding that is is physical and emotional as well as intellectual.

This enables real change to happen, the kind of change that makes a significant difference to your life.

When your understanding is just cognitive or intellectual, you may not be able to use the information to change your life. You may know exactly what you need to do, but be unable to do it.

Experiential understanding, on the other hand, enables you to use your knowledge to create meaningful change.

Core Development enables you to change from a predominantly problem-solving  to a creative orientation.

Problem-solving is driven by the need to get away from something you don’t want, “the problem”.

In the creative orientation you are driven by your desire to create what you truly want.

“The organization I manage was successful in a very important interstate development. A lot was riding on the success of this new development and as such I found myself managing in a manner where avoiding failure and minimizing risk was paramount.

After seeing Donald Marmara I was able to refocus my perspective from a “fear of failure” to a “desire to succeed”. This new perspective provided myself and my staff the confidence to proceed with the development in a creative and enthusiastic manner. The development has been a great success and has led to other interstate developments.”, A.P., Chief Executive Officer, Melbourne
