Sometimes adults impose their opinions and desires on children without really listening to them. They usually do this with the best of intentions, in the sincere belief that this is best for their children.
When this happens to us as children, however, we can end up like apple trees that are expected to produce oranges.
Then we think that something is wrong with us because, instead of feeling happy about who and what we are, we are trying to fulfill other people’s expectations.
When we are listened to, respected and loved for who we are - not for who others want us to be - we blossom.
