I DON’T THINK THE WORLD IS CHANGING IN THE WAY I’D LIKE IT TO.
In these times of upheaval, confusion and anxiety, however, I think it may be useful to consider this:
“There is beauty all around us, only for so many people it is buried and perhaps obscured by fear, hurt, frustration, anger, hopelessness, confusion…….
I used to play this game with myself when sitting in a train or plane on a long journey.
I would think of things or people that I find upsetting, and notice how I feel.
Then I would think of people I love, of places and situations that inspire me, and it would lift my spirit.
Nothing around me had changed, the world hadn’t changed, but my world changed.
I chose to change my focus, without attempting to alter or deny reality.
Just a drop in the ocean, perhaps, but the ocean is made up of drops……….”
PLEASE NOTE that this is not to ignore or deny the injustices and suffering and the changes that need to come about. On the contrary, I find that taking time to focus on the love and beauty that also exists in our world lifts my spirit, and puts me in a better condition to take constructive action to play my part in creating a more loving and peaceful world.
